Metropolitan Skills Center is Part of the Los Angeles Unified School District Division of Adult and Career Education.

 

Metropolitan Skills Center is located near Downtown Los Angeles and caters to our diverse community. We offer many courses which include English As a Second Language, Computer Literacy, GED and High School Diploma Courses and many other Vocational, Academic and Industrial Programs. Frequently Asked Questions

When do new classes begin?

• There is continuous registration and enrollment for new students. New classes are offered each semester--at the beginning of September and again in February. There is also a six-week summer session from July to August.

When can I register?

• New students may register at any time. Open enrollment allows students to begin immediately.

What is the cost?

• Academic, English as a Second Language, Citizenship, Gerontology classes are free. A $20 registration fee and a minimal class fee are charged for other classes. Senior citizens, 60 year of age, do not pay the registration fee. A voluntary student body fee of $2 for a student identification card is payable upon enrollment.

What levels of ESL are offered?

• All levels of English as a Second Language are offered at our school. For more detailed information about classes offered, see the Schedule of Classes.

What documents are required?

• No documents are required to attend any adult school class.

All educational opportunities are available without regard to race, color, national origin, gender, or handicap. Classes failing to meet the minimum class size will be closed according to Division policy.
